Sheri Coates (Trapp)

Tribute video by Sheri's sister, Shauna

Sheri Lyn Trapp (Coats) returned to her Heavenly Father's mansion on the night of September 8, 2011 at 10:13 pm at the Klein Center in Burlington, Iowa after a protracted battle with a variety of medical maladies. Sheri was born into this world on January 29, 1958 to Lamar Chester Coats and Patricia Louise Coats (Wright) and was the fourth child and second female born into that family.

Her surviving brothers and sisters include; Cindy (Mike) McGregor, Richard Lamar (Kay), Randal Vern (Michelle), Shauna (Kelly) Purser and Robert Craig. Sheri married David William Trapp on August 6th, 1981 in the Mormon temple in Salt Lake City, Utah. She was the willing mother of four sons; David Christopher - born on November 7, 1982, Bradley William - born on May 29, 1985, Jeffrey Lamar - born on August 28, 1990 and Curtis James - born on September 20, 1991. Her familial legacy also includes three grand children - Ryan (son of David Christopher and Christina), Keeley and Kayden (daughter and son of Bradley William and Britney).

Sheri will be missed tremendously by all those who knew her; she was a very positive influence on many individuals, especially on many of the young people whom she coached and taught. Sheri was a teacher and gymnastics coach at Bingham High School (South Jordan, Utah) and after moving to Ohio coached private club gymnastics for a number of years. Sheri also coached cheerleading for private clubs as well as for Stebbins High School (Dayton, Ohio) and Southwest High School (High Point, NC). Sheri was a vivacious, caring and loving individual who endured a lot of pain and agony in stoic fashion. She was a model of strength and courage in all that she did and said, and will be greatly missed by her friends and family.

Visitation will be held on Monday, September 12, 2011 from 9:00 to 11:00 A.M. at the Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter - Day Saints Church in Nauvoo, Illinois. Sweet video tribute to Sheri, I remember her well.  She was so fun, bubbly, and kind.  Sounds like she touched many lives through her coaching as well as mothering 4 boys and grandchildren.  I have 4 boys as well.

I look forward to meeting up with you Sheri in the next life!  Renee Judd Lamoreaux

Thank you Shauna for putting together that touching video tribute to Sheri. Both of you were amazing at gymnastics and dance. My favorite memory of Sheri was her routine with the champagne glass.  How she could put that glass on her head, fill it up with liquid, do a backward roll and not spill a drop.  She was so amazing and sweet. Looks like she was a very wonderful mom and grandmother too. Love to you and your family.

That was a very touching video clip your family put together.  It really took me down memory lane.  I will never forget the good times we had being roomates at Snow College. It seems like yesterday to me. You did touch many lives with your talents. We have so many people that come and go in our lives that we don't think about often.  I was so glad to stop and think about you. I can see that smile on your face. You alway seemed happy and full of energy.  Thanks for all the fun times we shared going to school together from Union Elem.to Union Jr High, to Hillcrest High and Snow College . So glad that we had many opportunities where our paths crossed. Wished we could talk and laugh together again. I am sure we will meet again.  God bless your family.
