Ken Dailey

Kenneth Ross Dailey, son of Dorothy and Alan Dailey, passed away on January 31, 2020. He suffered sudden heart failure while doing what he loved: riding his bike. Ken was born June 22, 1958. He cherished his wife Jan, their children, spouses, and 8 beloved grandchildren. Ken also treasured his time with his siblings, nieces, nephews and dear friends. For over 35 years he and his first wife, Carolyn, raised and mentored their children, Rachael and Ben, while exploring the world through humanitarian service. He was a man of faith who served in many capacities within the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (e.g. missionary, bishopric, temple worker, institute teacher). He was also a man of generosity, humility, humor, courage, intelligence, persistence, and wisdom. He loved adventure (e.g. cycling, mountaineering) and he was a gifted tennis and basketball player. He enriched the lives of many through music, words, and service. He was accomplished in his work and gave his all to comfort and lift those around him to leave this world a better place. A viewing will be held in his honor on 02/04/20 at 6:00 pm at Larkin Mortuary (2350E 1300S SLC, UT) and a funeral service will be held on 02/05/20 at 11 am at 1320 S Wasatch Dr in SLC.

I received the following message from Phil Greenhalgh:

My dear friend Ken Dailey, passed away on January 31, 2020. His death seems so untimely as I always knew Ken to be fit and active. I have known Ken since the third or fourth grade. We did cub scouts, scouting and church activities together. Ken was always a talented in athletics and music and many other pursuits. He played a beautiful piano solo in church before I left to serve a mission. He played basketball at Westminster College in SLC. I know Ken's talents touched the lives of many. I am glad to have Ken Dailey as one of my friends. His funeral will be Wednesday February 5, at 11 am at 1320 S Wasatch Dr in SLC. A viewing will be held in his honor on Tuesday February 4 at 6:30 pm at Larkin Mortuary (2350E 1300S SLC, UT)

Ken was a motivated person. It didn't matter what he was doing- sports, music or school. He always tried his best, and never was satisfied with mediocrity. He made those around him better because of his work ethics and desire to continually better himself.

Very sad to hear about Ken. Had a great visit with him at the reunion. This one hits close to home having survived a heart attack while running the Ragnar relay 7 years ago myself. We're all getting older guys. Get in for you physicals, colonoscopies, heart scans and other "preventive maintanence" checkups. 61 is WAY too young to lose someone as healthy as Ken.
