Danny Vard Newbold, 38, was called home to his Father in Heaven after a sudden infection on Monday, December 30, 1996.

He was able to spend a few brief hours with his new little daughter and wife. He is survived by his wife, Debbie; and five young children, Amber, 12; Robert,9; Jason, 7; Jessica, 4; infant daughter Megan, four day old, all of South Jordan; parents, Shirley and Colleen Newbold, Midvale; mother-in-law, Carolyn Miles, South Jordan; father-in-law, William Miles, Houston, Texas; brothers, Cary (Bonnie), Sandy; Barry (Sherry), Sandy; brother-in-law, Edward Miles, Bountiful; numerous nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.

Danny was born January 15, 1958 in Murray, Utah.

He served an LDS Mission to Melbourne, Australia in 1977-79. He married his sweetheart and best friend, Deborah (Debbie) Miles, on March 4, 1982 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.

A graduate of the Salt Lake Community College, he was a journeyman carpenter and was employed as a cabinet maker for the Jordan School District for 17 years.

Danny was a member of the LDS Church, where he faithfully served in many callings. He was currently the First Counselor of his Elder's Quorum.

He was a loving and devoted father and husband. He loved the out-of-doors and beauty of nature; enjoyed camping, hunting and fishing and spending time with his wife and children. He appreciated the natural beauty of fine wood and loved working with it.

He was coach of his son's Jr. Jazz Basketball team. Danny has selflessly served so many through his thoughtful acts of service and his skills as a craftsman. He is loved by his neighbors, friends and co-workers. We believe he has been called home to prepare the way for his family. His young son said, "Maybe there's something in Heaven that needs to be fixed." Till we meet again, Dan, we love you and will miss you.
